How to Pair a New Honda Smart Key using original Smart key

Honda Smart Key Pairing Procedure Guide

 

Using Red Programming Cable and Original Working Key

This procedure is for pairing an additional smart key to a Honda PCX SH FORZA ADV ETC using the red programming cable and an already working original key.

Requirements

Before starting, make sure you have:

  • A fully charged scooter battery
  • Original working smart key
  • New compatible smart key
  • Red programming cable
  • Both keys present and ready

Before Starting

  1. Ensure the scooter ignition is OFF.
  2. Make sure BOTH smart keys are switched OFF.
  3. Press the button on each key briefly to confirm they show a RED light when off.
  4. Locate the 2-pin programming connector
  5. Note there is a time limit for this procedure to be carried out of 120 seconds
  6. Please read the Important Notes section at the bottom of this guide before starting! 

Pairing Procedure

Step 1 – Activate Original Working Key

  1. Connect the red programming cable to battery positive. (See Images Below )
  2. Take the ORIGINAL working key.
  3. Press and hold the key button until the light turns GREEN.
  4. Press the scooter ignition button ONCE.
  5. The blue ring around the ignition should illuminate and stay on.

Step 2 – Switch Original Key Off

  1. Press and hold the original key button again until the light turns RED.
  2. The original key is now switched OFF.

Step 3 – Activate the New Key

  1. Take the NEW smart key.
  2. Press and hold the button until the light turns GREEN.
  3. Turn the scooter ignition ON.

Step 4 – Confirm Pairing

Watch the light on the NEW smart key carefully.

If pairing is successful:

  • The green light may stay illuminated
  • Or it may flash briefly or repeatedly

This confirms the new key has paired with the scooter.

Step 5 – Exit Pairing Mode

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the red programming cable.
  3. Wait approximately 2 minutes.

Testing the New Key

  1. Turn the new key ON by pressing and holding the button until GREEN.
  2. Test:
    • Ignition operation
    • Engine start
    • Seat release
    • Steering lock functions

The new key should now operate normally.

Important Notes

  • Do NOT allow the seat to close while the scooter is in pairing mode with the programming cable connected.
  • The scooter battery should be well charged before starting.
  • The replacement key must be the correct type and frequency for the scooter.
  • If you want to use the original key again afterwards, it must be switched back ON manually by pressing and holding the key button until GREEN.
